Birds of a Feather Sessions

We are planning on running two BoF sessions at Scotch; one on Wednesday night, and the second on Thursday night.

Wednesday nights session will be on Open BlueDragon, where we have 6 of the steering committee in attendance; Alan Williamson, Andy Wu, Sean Corfield, Matt Woodward, Mark Drew and myself.

Thursday night will be on ColdFusion 9. We will have Jason Delmore, Adam Lehman, Sanjeev Kumar and Kristen Schofield in place to take your questions.

Adobe Consulting @ Scotch

One of the great things about Scotch, is the ability to call on Adobe Consulting EMEA. The old iteration::two crowd were acquired by Macromedia and therefore Adobe and are based out of Edinburgh, and that gives us an incredible talent to call upon.

And with that, we have 6 sessions from Steven Webster's team.

  • Alex Uhlmann - Test Driven Develompent Applied to Flex
  • Alistair McLeod - Realtime Collaboration and Adobe Flex
  • Paul Williams - Patterns and Best-Practices for Rich Internet Applications: Exploring the Presentation
  • Peter Martin - Introduction to Data Management Services with Flex
  • Leon Tanner - Modularising your Flex Application
  • Borre Wessel - Automated Building and Testing of Rich Internet Applications

Steven won't be given a session this year, however he will be part of the Wednesday morning keynote session, that will also feature Ben Forta, Adam Lehman and Andrew Shorten.

We will be releasing a new version of the agenda soon to take into account these new sessions.

Intergral and Charlie Arehart at Scotch

We're delighted to announce that Intergral, makers of FusionDebug and FusionReactor, will be sponsoring Scotch on the Rocks again this year.

Additionally, they will be sending everysone's favourite CFML expert, Charlie Arehart to present on the Fusion products.

Speaker Announcement: Sanjeev Kumar

We're delighted to announce Sanjeev Kumar as a speaker at Scotch on the Rocks. Sanjeev is part of the ColdFusion Engineering team and has been with them for the last 3 years.

If the PDF Forms/Manipulation features of ColdFusion 8 are of interest, then Sanjeev's talk will be of most interest to you. Not just because he's speaking on that topic, but also because he built them.

Speaker Announcement: Jason Delmore

Jason was supposed to speak last year but went off to do something more interesting instead. At least, that's what he thought. When the feedback from Scotch '07 filtered back to him he was really annoyed he didn't make it.

So, for 2008 the ColdFusion Product Manager is heading to Edinburgh to speak, mingle and get drunk - it's a conference after all!

New: One and Two Day Tickets, plus EB is Extended

I announced this in Aberdeen on Friday night at the ColdFusion 8 presentation I was giving, but:

One and Two Day Tickets now Available

We've listened to the feedback we've received, in that 3 days for some people, is too long to be out of the office. To accomodate those folks, we're introducing one and two day tickets.

  • One day tickets (you choose your day) are priced at £99+VAT.
  • Two day tickets (Wed/Thurs or Thurs/Fri) are priced at £149+VAT

These prices will remain until April 30th, which is when we are now extending the early bird pricing till. After which, each ticket will jump by £50 (except the full 3 day which will jump to £299 as previously announced).

You really can't find a better deal than this anywhere. Our full 3 day ticket - priced at £199+VAT - is miles cheaper than the vast majority of two day ticket conferences, and let's be honest, who can argue with our speaker line up. Plus it's a trip to Edinburgh. Absolute bargain.

The online registration will show one and two day tickets shortly, but please feel free to contact us at scotch@fuzzyorange.co.uk to say "Oi! Gies a ticket!".

Alternative Hotels

If you're coming to Scotch and can't afford the George Hotel (even with our discounted rate - contact us for the code), we have set up an affiliation with Hostel Bookers

Just use the widget below to find alternative accommodation in Edinburgh.

Mr T interviewed by Scotch on the Rocks

And he has some choice words for those not attending.

First Draft of the Agenda now posted

We have released the first draft of the agenda for Scotch on the Rocks at this location.

As you can see, we have allocated Friday afternoon to be a full blown community driven session on ColdFusion 9.

The idea behind this, is to give Adobe, specifically the ColdFusion team, the chance to get as much customer feedback as possible for the next release of ColdFusion.

Flying into Edinburgh Airport? Want free transport to the venue?

If you are flying into Edinburgh airport, please let us know at scotch@fuzzyorange.co.uk, with your planned date/time of arrival. If we have enough folks arriving at a certain time, we will book the Edinburgh Shuttle Service on your behalf, and at no cost to you.
